Let's Talk About Shirts!

As a clothing brand, The Effin’ Texan has done a lot of research into the garments that we sell. We have done “blind” surveys, where people were given several different types of shirts to compare and rate. We have looked at the types of garments that other clothing brands use. We have looked in our own closet to understand why our “favorite” shirt is our favorite. And the final results surprised us all…

In the Blind Surveys, we used Bella+Canvas, Comfort Colors, American Apparel, Jerzees, Next Level, and the brand that (eventually) we went with. We looked at 100% Cotton, Cotton/Poly blends, Tri-Blends. We studied the styles and fits. And when all of the dust settled, our decision was very clear…

Our audience is mostly men, age 25-45. That does not NOT mean that women won’t wear The Effin’ Texan clothes…they do. It also doesn’t mean that people in their 50’s and 60’s won’t wear The Effin’ Texan clothes…they do. It just means that the core customer of The Effin’ Texan clothes are men, and they are between 25 and 45 years old.

So, what is important in a shirt?

Fit is pretty important…and our shirts are perfect. They aren’t too tight (a lot of Effin’ Texans are…robust), but they don’t look droopy and boxy. They are also a bit longer than a lot of shirts, so you won’t expose yourself when you bend over. Nobody wants to see that…

Feel is also important…and this is where our garments really shine. Our shirts are 100% Combed AND Ringspun Cotton. What does that mean? It means that these shirts are soft…super soft! And the more you wash them, the softer they get. No more shirts that feel like sandpaper! And these are “Heavyweight” shirts, so they aren’t thin and flimsy (like a lot of “soft” shirts are).

We decided that offering 5 different colors was probably not what our customers would want, so we decided on Black and White. The designs look great on them, and everybody likes Black shirts or White shirts!

Finally, we print our garments with very fine mesh. What that means is that the print is very soft (not “plasticky” like some shirts), and we put a lot of care into the “finish” of our shirts, which makes them even softer.

Now, as important as what our shirts are is what our shirts are NOT: we don’t use Gildan, Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, Comfort Colors, Next Level, American Apparel, or Bella+Canvas. While those are all good brands

(some are better than others, though...), we are confident that our shirts are as good or better than all of those “big brand” shirts…

We are proud of our brand, we are proud of our designs, and we are proud of our products. But most of all, we are proud to be EFFIN’ TEXANS!!!
